Englewood Elementary School and North Salem High School will be closed
for the summer because of renovations and repairs occurring at these
schools, and we need your help in getting the word out. Please share
this information with community members. The school buildings will be a
construction zone and all public access will be blocked to ensure a safe
environment. This summer work is exciting news for the district, students, teachers,
and community members. When Englewood Elementary reopens this fall,
there will be new plumbing supply lines, and ceiling tiles and damaged
floor coverings will have been replaced. When North Salem High School
reopens this fall, theater lighting control panels, a portion of the
windows, the floor coverings, damaged ceiling tiles, wiring, emergency
generator, and water pipes will be replaced. In addition, the building
exterior will be sealed, the fire alarm system will be upgraded, and the
damaged parking lot will be resurfaced. All this repair work is thanks to the support of our local voters who
approved a $242.1 million construction bond measure in November 2008 to
help repair and renovate more than half the schools in Salem-Keizer, as
well as build four new schools in key areas in our community. How can community members contact school office staff during the
summer?Englewood Elementary office staff will be located at Grant Community
School at 725 Market Street NE starting the week of June 21. The phone
number will be the same as Englewood’s home phone and fax numbers:
(503) 399-3143 and fax: (503) 391-4085.
Englewood staff will be available to the public until the close of the
school year on June 29. The office will re-open on August 16 at the
temporary summer location at Grant Community School.
North Salem High School office staff will be located at Parrish Middle
School at 802 Capitol Street NE starting the week of June 21. The phone
number will be the same as North Salem’s home phone and fax numbers:
(503) 399-3241 and fax: (503) 375-7808. North Salem office staff will be
available throughout the summer. If community members would like to more information about the
construction occurring during the summer or want to track progress as
our district implements the construction bond, they can view the
district’s construction website at:
http://www.salkeiz.k12.or.us/content/bond-updates.In addition, because both Englewood Elementary School and North Salem
High School will be closed, we will not be renting space to individuals
or community groups at these locations. We appreciate anything you can
do to help us spread the word so that our community members have
adequate time to relocate their activities. We appreciate everyone’s patience and support as we work with one
another to deal with the inconveniences that construction brings to our
community. But we hope you join us in welcoming the improvements to
Englewood Elementary School and North Salem High School in the fall of
2010.If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Facilities
and Planning office at 503-399-3290.Thank you,
