In light of the recent disasters nationally & world-wide, our local CERT group will be offering free classes in disaster preparedness. CERT stands for Community Emergency Response Teams, a group of local residents who have received 21 hours of training in coping with disasters and act as first responders immediately after a disaster, dealing with what must be done in the days before police and fire can get to our neighborhood. This may be for as much as 3 days! Within NEN we have an active team, but, we’re fairly light on the ground in terms of numbers. So, be our guest & join us in our new classes.
When? May 13th & 14th & May 20th & 21st. Friday evenings 5:30-9:00 Saturdays 8:30-4:30.
Where? At the Fire Station on the Chemeketa Community College Campus.
Or, if you can’t make it until autumn, come to our October classes, commencing Oct. 6th 2011, for 7 consecutive Thursday evenings at the Airport Fire Station on 25th St. SE.
To register for either class call or e-mail Roger Stevenson, Manager, City of Salem at (503) 763-3331, or rstevenson@cityofsalem.net
